Vancouver Island Wedding Photographer // Whitley House Wedding, Qualicum Beach // James + Kylee’s Wedding Day

“You have to try them, you will really enjoy them” … Kylee + James both had me convinced to try  a new dish at Original Joe’s. It was over 3 orders of Fish Taco’s that i realized quickly that their wedding. was. going. to be… incredible. “It is at the Whitley House, soft pink colours, really relaxed…”

Each word that i heard over our dinner gave me butterflies + so you can imagine my excitement when they asked me to be their Wedding Photographer. Kylee + James were married on September 14th, 2013 near Qualicum Beach. From their outside garden ceremony to their first dance under a sparkling chandelier… each detail, down to the last drop was insanely romantic. So excited to share a few little memories of their day below.

Enjoy. xo

Vancouver Island Wedding Photographer // Vancouver Island Engagement Session // Crystal + Nathan’s Engagement

She sent me one email + I knew. It only took one + I knew I was  going to really like this couple.  We exchanged a few emails that very same day, back + forth (i distinctly remember this because my phone dyed during my 4th email response to her + i was running around my house franticly looking for my charger!!!) I swear my phone chargers are like my debit cards, i can never keep track of where they are.

I joined Crystal + Nathan at Westwood Lake, Nanaimo BC + it was there that my inkling of them as couple, was confirmed. So genuine + funny, a couple that loves deeply + laughs easily.  A family of 3 that i had a blast photographing. Yes, i did say 3. Their adorable little pup LJ joined us for a part of their session as well. I LOVE when couples bring along their pups. It ads such a cool little bonus to the afternoon.

Crystal… thank you for not only introducing me to the word “Swoon”, but further than that… showing me what it means by allowing me to capture your + Nathan’s engagement session! xo

Gabriola Island Wedding Photographer // Vancouver Island Wedding Photographer // Jessica + Darcy’s Cabin Wedding

It was a Cabin the Bride, Jessica, had come to time + time again with her Family. Right near the ocean, cozy fireplace… it really was the perfect little getaway on Gabriola Island. The only thing that could make this rustic little home away from home… that much better … was one little thing, the presence of her soon to be husband, Darcy. The two, along with friends + family spent days upon days playing bocce ball, cards + laughing until it hurt to laugh anymore… A location that seemed perfect for these two to tie the Knot + they did just so.

Jess + Darcy, your wedding was so much fun. You both included so many personal touches to your day + there was never a moment without laughter. It was so evident to me that each + every person standing next to you on your special day, loved you both so, so much.Thank you, thank you… thank you! For allowing me to be the one to capture your day. Surely, a Wedding I will never soon forget.

Vancouver Island Wedding Photographer // Alysha + Justin Engagement Session in Nanaimo, BC

One of the first things i do each time i receive a little note from a Bride, after dancing with excitement, is to read the names of the Bride + Groom to be. After reading a little more of Alysha’s note to me, I was SO excited when realizing that her + i actually went to school together!! I have to admit, life passes by… and sometimes its hard to keep in contact with each and every person you crossed paths with, while walking the halls of Dover Bay Highscool. With that said, I really did have so many awesome girls to go through School with… Alysha being one of them. Feeling so honoured that she asked me to capture the most important day of her life… I could not wait to meet her soon to be husband.
Justin + Alysha are such a rad couple + we had such a great time reminiscing over our past school days + eagerly talking about marriage, buying houses +  everything that comes with simply growing up! Can’t wait for their special Summer Wedding day in 2014!

Vancouver Island Wedding Photographer // A Message to my Bride + Grooms + the Last Weekend of our Summer!

This Summer has been Ah-Mazzzingggg…

My Summer 2013 Bride + Grooms: To each + every one of you who may be reading this!… Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU… . Each of your Weddings this summer was simply stunning. Let me repeat that… Each wedding was… stunnnnn-ing… and crazy unique in its own way.  I had the privledge of experiencing different cultural weddings, outdoor ceremonys, twinkle lights, drinks served in  canoes, groom + groomsmen providing the ceremony music by means of their suspenders, wooden center pieces, bowties, heartwarming speeches,  flower girls + ring bears being brought down the isle in adorable wagons, surprise proposals + winery weddings, popcorn and smore stations, grooms who turned around way to early during a first look, however looking back i wouldn’t have changed the moment one bit, friends turned lovers, parents turned husband + wife….. the list goes on + on. Thank you to each of you for making this summer one I will always remember. You all have found your soul mates + I wish you all the happiness in the world. For real.

I love what I do because of each and everyone of you! I would like to thank Sarah, an amazing Guest from Erin + Jamie’s Wedding for allowing me the use of this photo she captured!

With that in mind, all Summer I knew I had to keep August 31, 2013 free for one very special reason. The Wedding of our good friends Steve + Caitlin.  Their engagement session can be found here!

My husband Cody + I always have little competitve chats. Its one of the things I love most about us. Steven, our mutual friend was the topic of one of these chats not to long ago. We both have known Steven for a while + we both have years of friendship history with him. We jokingly would talk about who was the closer friend to him. The day finally came when Steven met the lady of his dreams, Caitlin. They set their wedding date for August 31.  Its a big deal when a friend of yours finds the one they want to marry + I was so pleased to finally meet her… I realized not only is she gorgeous, she is so much fun, with such a kind heart. Cody was pretty excited to be in the Wedding Party as well. He continues to tell me that him being in the wedding reconfirmed that he in fact, is better friends with Steven. hah. Fair enough.

May I introduce my weekend according to my iphone! xo

Their Wedding was so beautiful, down to the last detail…

Head to toe they make such a fashionable couple. Didn’t expect anything less on their wedding day, I mean look at that dress! HELLO!

My husband felt pretty … ah happy?!.. to get to wear a bowtie in the wedding party. I think it may have started something for him. Not exactly sure the reason for this face though.

Love this guy, not just because he’s handsome + kind hearted… it goes deeper than that… he buys me chocolate !

A great part of Steven + Caitlin’s Wedding was meeting their Wedding Photographer, Whitney with Whitney Lane Photography! We kind of, a little bit… hit it off at the Wedding and decided, along with our husbands, to go for fish + chips the following day! One thing led to another… soon enough we were sailing and I believe the words “never let go” were said right before this photo was taken! (Thank you to the kind Sailor who allowed us on his boat so we could experience lifestyles of the rich and famous for 2.07 seconds)

Of course…. no amazing weekend is complete without a little something something. Also knows as an engagement session with one of the coolest couples. Alysha + Justin are tying the knot July, 2014 + I am SO EXCITED to be their Wedding Photographer. Here is a little sneak peak of their Monday Evening Session. If you are planning to follow in their footsteps and are looking for a certain someone to capture your day, id love to hear from ya! If you like, you can learn a little more about me here…

love + laughter! xo
